Hey there, lp9 here. This is my idea on how to essentialy make pets usefull in the game again.
This suggestion will consist of 3 new concepts:
1. New pet levels, different from the current level system for pets
2. Pet skills (Passive and Active skills)
3. Special Perks
Pet Levels
So, what are pet levels? Pet levels will basically make your pets ''secondary characters''. They will work the same as regular player levels, but with different exp requirements for each level. You will be able to gain more pet levels by getting Pet Experience. You will be able to get pet experience from 2 sources:
- The Pet arena
- 5% from regular exp goes to pet experience (For players who are above lvl 200, the pre-inferno exp gain formula will be used)
Each level you gain will give your pet 1 skill point. Skill points will be used to upgrade your passive skills. You will continue to gain skill points normally untill pet level 300. After level 300, you will only get a skill point once per 5 pet levels.
Pet Skills
Passive skills
Passive skills will increase a pet's base stats. Here is a list of all the passive skills, what they do and how many skill points they cost:
- Strenght - Adds a +5% additive damage boost per level Cost: 1 SP (skill point for short) Cap: infinite
- Vitality - Adds a +2% additive health boost per level Cost: 1 SP Cap: infinite
- Toughness - Adds a +1% damage reduction boost per level Cost: 2 SP Cap: 50
- Agility - Adds a +1% speed boost per lvl Cost: 2 SP Cap: 100
- Regeneration - Regenerates 1% of Max. health per turn (Works in pet arena only) Cost: 10 SP Cap: 5
- Critical Strenght - Adds a +5% additive critical damage boost per level Cost: 1 Sp Cap: 50
- Energy - Adds a +2% additive mana* boost per level Cost: 1 SP Cap: infinite
*mana - This is going to be a new stat for your pet. Mana will be used to cast active skills while battling monsters
Active skills
Active skills will help you defeat monsters both outside and inside of the pet arena. Here are the list of all the active skills, what they do and how much mana they use up (Keep in mind that all the skills are at level 1):
- Blast - Deals 250% pet damage Cost: 15 mana CD: 5 turns (or 15 sec.)
- Heal - Heals 5% of max. health Cost: 30 mana CD: 10 turns
- Guard - Take 25% less damage for 5 turns (works in pet arena only) Cost: 50 mana CD: 15 turns
- Warcry - Do 50% more damage for 5 turns (or 10 seconds outside of pet arena) Cost: 50 mana CD: 15 turns (or 45 sec.)
- Focus - Restore 10% mana Cost: 0 mana CD: 15 turns (or 45 sec.)
- Stun - 33% chance to stun the enemy for 3 turns (or 6 seconds outside of pet arena) Cost: 30 mana CD: 20 turns
- Critical boost - +65% critical damage boost for 5 turns ( or 10 seconds outside of pet arena) Cost: 25 mana CD: 15 turns (or 45 sec.)
As i said earlier, all values are shown at level 1. You can level up skills with pet points. Max. skill level is 30.
Pet Perks
Pet perks are special upgrades that you get once your pets reach a certain pet level and evolution tier. We will call this a tier. You will be able to only choose one perk per tier , so choose wisely. Here is the list of all the perks:
Tier 1 - Unlocked at Pet level 10. Pets: Snakes or higher
- Extra training food I - +2 training food
- Extra pet points I - +10% extra pet points
Tier 2 - Unlocked at Pet level 20. Pets: Bats or higher
- Extra pet arena food I - +10% pet arena food
- Extra pet damage I - +25% multiplicative damage boost
Tier 3 - Unlocked at Pet level 30. Pets: Bad Wabbits or higher
- Extra training food II - +3 training food
- Extra pet experience I - +10% pet experience
Tier 4 - Unlocked at Pet level 40. Pets: Viruses or higher
- Extra pet points II - +10% extra pet points
- Extra skill points I - +10 extra skill points
Tier 5 - Unlocked at Pet level 50. Pets: Rhinos or higher
- Extra pet arena food II - +10% pet arena food
- Extra training food III - +4 training food
Tier 6 - Unlocked at Pet level 65. Pets: Rhinos or higher
- Extra pet damage II - +25% multiplicative damage boost
- Extra pet experience II - +10% pet experience
Tier 7 - Unlocked at Pet level 80. Pets: Robobees or higher
- Extra pet points III - +10% extra pet points
- Extra skill points II - +15 extra skill points
Tier 8 - Unlocked at Pet level 100. Pets: Robobees or higher
- Extra pet arena food III - +15% pet arena food
- Extra stat boost I - +10% to all stats (damage, health, speed, mana)
Tier 9 - Unlocked at Pet level 125. Pets: Brainfesters or higher
- Extra pet damage III - +25% multiplicative damage boost
- Extra pet experience III - +15% pet experience
- Reduced training time I - -10% time on pet training
Tier 10 - Unlocked at Pet level 150. Pets: Brainfesters or higher
- Extra pet points IV - +20% extra pet points
- Extra skill points III - +20 extra skill points
- Reduced training time II - -15% time on pet training
Tier 11 - Unlocked at Pet level 175. Pets: Clockworks or higher
- Extra pet arena food IV - +15% pet arena food
- Extra training food IV - +7 training food
- Extra stat boost II - +10% to all stats
Tier 12 - Unlocked at Pet level 200. Pets: Clockworks or higher
- Extra pet damage IV - +25% multiplicative damage boost
- Extra pet experience IV - +15% pet experience
- Extra pet points V - +25% extra pet points
- Extra skill points IV - +25 extra skill points
Tier 13 - Unlocked at Pet level 233. Pets: T-rexes or higher
- Extra pet arena food V - +25% pet arena food
- Extra training food V - +10 training food
- Extra stat boost III - +10% to all stats
Tier 14 - Unlocked at Pet level 266. Pets: T-rexes or higher
- Extra pet damage V - +25% multiplicative damage boost
- Extra pet experience V - +20% pet experience
- Extra stat boost IV - +10% to all stats
Tier 15 - Unlocked at Pet level 300. Pets: Eternal Wyrms or higher
- Ultimate pet arena food - +50% pet arena food
- Ultimate training food - +12 training food
- Ultimate pet points - +50% extra pet points
- Ultimate skill points - +35 skill points
- Ultimate pet damage - +100% multiplicative damage boost
- Ultimate pet experience - +50% pet experience
- Ultimate reduced training time - -25% time on pet training time
- Ultimate stat boost - +35% to all stats
- Decreased feed requirement - -25% feed to next level.
With these perks alone, there are over 2+ million different ways you can choose your perks, so no two pets will ever be the same!
Note: Every value shown here doesn't have to like this. If Ray considers this idea, he can freely change all the values, this is just an example of how this idea could work.
