How about this...since i'm already getting way too carried away with so many different currencies:
-Adding 'Innate' passive stat upgrades to the character 'Ability' upgrades for increasing stats.
-Adding character stats (as suggested)
This likely wouldn't be done until after Avatars/Classes would be implemented though, but would allow players to spend level-up upgrade stats on things other than their skill abilities.
