I don't like extra pet food just from killing stuff. I see apples as internal part of the arena + other milestones. Instead, I'd suggest something different, but way more useful. Besides, 100+ apples/day is already plenty.
Instead of meat pets would gather their own experience, called "rage".
Where is the exp, there are lvls. Pets earn their own rage lvls, each lvl providing small food and PP bonus and also small bonuses to their attributes, like attack speed or extra dmg (the numbers are very small though, but bonuses are noticeable in long run).
That's not all. Each tier of pet havs its own specific temporary buff that can be activated within cooldown time. But to make things interesting, the buff costs you rage points (yes, you lose experience). One of them is double training (~18h cd).
But I'm not going to go into much detail about this system (I have all data).
I just don't like the idea of another bunch of free stuff. Apples should stick to arena.
