Attempting to Purchase First Pet Crashes all Functionality...and then it gets worse

I clicked the side button to purchase my first pet and it took me to the pet training screen. I clicked "Buy for 500 Gold" and nothing happened. I have 510 gold. Upon returning to the main screen, the monster is gone and I have lost all functionality. 

What Works:
- Game, Upgrade, Shop, Character, Social, and Pets buttons
- All Sub-Tabs of the "Game" section (hunting, woodcutting, etc.)
- Ship Upgrades button
- All Upgrades tabs
- Find Party button
- Chat (opening, switching sides, changing size)
- All buttons on the woodcutting screen (sell, get more energy, upgrades)
- All buttons in challenge screen

What Doesn't Work:
- switching monsters
- abilities
- attacking
- starting expedition
- purchasing anything
- claim timer
- actual chatting in the chat
- party matching screen ("Retrieving Data")
- accessing a woodcutting tree
- challenge listing screen and buttons - "Getting list of open challenges..." - close and refresh buttons don't work

I'm now stuck on the challenge listing screen, but I would assume that everything else would be the same story (buttons work, but actual functions don't).

As /hcon doesn't work, I am now refreshing the page itself. 

Logged in. Now stuck at a medium grey screen. Waited about 5 minutes. No change.

Refresh again. Log in. Grey screen.
