This indeed does not work right now. Putting points into pet damage or speed does not seem to be effecting pets. I noticed this today when i fought a pet boss and my damage dint seem to include my just then changed ascension points board for this 50% pet 15@ spd. I had to use an extra 20 ap on heals for this fight since i had already begin it before i noticed this.
