This sounds like something that has already been fixed. If the players are still affected, they might have to relog.

As long as people exit (and stop joining) that last bugged challenge, this bug will be extinct.

Otherwise... maybe kind players could leave themselves queued so it shows a stupidly high number, which hopefully deters people who actually need the challenge to stop queuing and wasting their time.
